MyRoses is a video game project born out of a personal interest in the history of Roses, the town on Catalonia's Costa Brava where I grew up. It walks players through key moments of the town's past, from its prehistoric origins to its more recent ties with elBulli, turning local history into something playable and easy to explore.

The project grew out of my secondary-school research thesis, which let me combine two long-running interests: a self-taught path through video editing, HTML/CSS and eventually Unity, and a fascination with local history sparked by a teacher who left a lasting impression on me. Rather than build a generic game, I decided to make something rooted in Roses itself. I built it in Unity and shipped it as a browser-based game at myroses.cat: no install, no app store, playable from any device with a browser. All the artwork is drawn as 2D vector illustrations in Inkscape (touched up in Photoshop) rather than pixel art, so it stays crisp at any screen size.

MyRoses is designed for kids around 9-10 years old and up, and built for two players working together: each one picks a character, Miquel Oliva or Aurora Martín, and the two often see different information on screen, so they have to talk to each other to solve each puzzle. The adventure is split into six levels, one per era of the town's history, each built as its own mini-game: a sliding puzzle, a photo-classification challenge, a spot-the-double game, a math-based escape, a shape-matching chase, and a memory game inspired by elBulli's kitchen. Players race a 30-minute clock while unlocking collectibles along the way. I play-tested the finished game with real students at Escola Jaume Vicens i Vives, the primary school in Roses I attended as a kid.
